Hi! Here’s a demo for a new song Alex wrote this spring. This version’s got ukulele, banjo and accordion with a whole lot of drone and reverb and distortion and oh my! Mike is the produc-ah.

It’s called Idealism and it’s about independence of thought. Enjoy!

REPORTING FROM ITHACA FALLS!It's NOLA baby!Cemetary DaysHello, this is dog.Flo Ridah!

Transmitting from Dirty Dova, TN!

Hey! Just woke up in Cordova, Tennessee after a downright awesome evening. We pulled into Memphis yesterday afternoon after a lengthy drive from Belleville, Illinois. The view during the ride was hopelessly flat but the falling snow obscured the cornfields and the scattered trees fell back as mysterious, soft gray shapes. It was lovely.

Entering Memphis with time to kill, we aimlessly wandered Beale Street. It was all deserted and neon as we gave into temptation and indulged in fried strawberries on a plate of whipped cream. It was a novel and pleasant experience but we were having trouble unveiling the great musical vibe Memphis was said to have.

We returned to the Courthouse Co-Op to load in and then our evening exploded. There was enthusiastic conversation over a round table, an awesome performance from each and every band and an AMAZING energy and response from the crowd throughout the entire night. The culture we had trouble finding on Beale Street excitedly grabbed us by the shoulders at the CourtHouse. It had a beautiful presence and I personally can’t wait until the next time I find myself there.

Today is our only day off so it’ll be nice to drag our feet this morning for a change. At some point in the afternoon, we’ll set off for our halfway point on tour, New Orleans!

Okay, bye!

Lo-fi New England gothic freak-folk-punk

The drive from New Haven to Boston is lined with grey New England winter forests and icicle waterfalls drip down the dull and craggy rock faces. The trees are thin and wiry and some patches are wound with brambles, limbs and trunks split apart and knocked to the ground. Alex, Esteban and I sit in the backseat with our quilt of Spikedriver patches draped over us as I finish sewing on a pocket. We pass a Megabus and Esteban snatches the opportunity to steal their wifi. Alex reads Jack Kerouac. We always stop at the same antique shop off of highway 84 to stretch our legs and dig through bins of dusty old postcards. Max found a rusty saw for $10 with a beautifully carved wooden handle the same length as is current saw, but with a much fuller and clearer timbre.

Last night we played at Neverending Books in New Haven with Tyler Bussey and Dr. Caterwaul’s Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps. Dr Caterwaul’s is legitimately one of my favorite bands and it is always incredibly inspiring to play with them. Also! Adam, Nathan and Brian are the sweetest guys and always so welcoming. Thanks for a great show! (Tomorrow we play in Hadley, MA with Adam solo as An Historic!)
